Carolyn Kassel, a former Hardeeville City Council member, has announced her candidacy for Mayor of Hardeeville in the upcoming Nov. 5 General Election. She served on the city council for seven years and is now seeking to become the city’s next mayor. Current Mayor Harry Williams has announced he will not seek another term, making Kassel the first candidate to publicly announce her bid for mayor.
In a news release, Kassel expressed her excitement about launching her campaign for mayor and highlighted her belief in the power of a dedicated council working together towards shared goals. She brings a unique perspective to the mayor’s race, based on her knowledge of current projects and issues that Hardeeville will face in the future. Kassel has a background as a legal secretary, legal administrative assistant, and paralegal for major law firms in Washington, D.C.
Kassel and her spouse, Don Kassel, reside in the Riverton Pointe area of Hardeeville. They moved to the Lowcountry in 2011 and have a blended family with four children and five grandchildren. If elected, Kassel plans to focus on topics such as managed growth, improving traffic conditions, job creation, and the development of an attainable housing plan. She aims to complete projects in the current pipeline, initiate new initiatives, and enhance communication with the public.
Having served on the Spotsylvania County Virginia Board of Zoning Appeals and the Lee’s Hill Homeowners Association Board of Directors, Kassel has demonstrated dedication to serving the community. Additionally, she is a board member of the Low Country Legal Volunteers and the Jasper County Council on Aging. Kassel is committed to ensuring that every voice in Hardeeville is heard and represented.
