In Marburg, Germany, from November 6th to 8th, 2023, ARC2020, Kollektiv von Morgen, and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bäuerliche Landwirtschaft (AbL) are organizing a European Action Gathering focusing on a sustainable bridge between agricultural and food policies in the EU. The event will take place at the Technologie- & Tagungszentrum and will be conducted in German, with interpretation into English and French available. For those unable to attend in person, there will be a live stream of the presentation of the Marburg Action Plan for Future-Proof Food Systems and the panel debate on November 8th, conducted in German.
The gathering aims to address the need for an integrated policy shift towards sustainable farming practices and a resilient food system in Europe. Despite various initiatives promoting access to healthy and sustainable food across the continent, there is still a lack of cohesive policies. The European Commission has proposed a Sustainable Food Systems law, raising expectations for stronger implementation of the Farm to Fork Strategy. The event seeks to bring together citizens, farmers, municipalities, and policymakers to advocate for integrated policies in the areas of farming, food, climate, environment, and public health.
The European Action Gathering is part of the Rural Europe Takes Action – Germany project, a collaboration between ARC2020, AbL, and Kollektiv von Morgen, supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and Porticus. The event will feature discussions, learning opportunities, and actions for stakeholders across Germany, France, and Europe to engage with the challenges of sustainable food systems and rural resilience. The program will explore lessons from France and Germany on rural resilience in sustainable food systems, evaluate food system policies at various levels, and develop ideas for on-the-ground actions and policy changes.
Registration for the gathering is currently full, but a waiting list is available for potential cancellations. Additionally, the presentation of the Marburg Action Plan and panel debate on November 8th will be live-streamed in German for those unable to attend in person.
