Florian Plettenberg, reporter for Germany’s main sports tabloid and Sky Germany, has reported that Eintracht Frankfurt’s new signing, Arthur Theate, will join the club permanently once an obligatory purchase clause is activated early in the season. According to reports from “Sport Bild” and transfer expert Florain Plettenberg, Theate’s parent club Stade Rennes negotiated a purchase clause that will come into effect after the Belgian player reaches a certain number of appearances. Eintracht will pay €13 million for Theate’s permanent transfer, with the possibility of an additional €4 million in performance-related bonuses.
Stade Rennes has also secured a sell-on clause, in case Theate’s market value rises significantly and Eintracht opt to sell him to another club. Currently valued at around €20 million, there were previous rumors that RB Leipzig were willing to pay €30 million for the 24-year-old player. The agreement with Stade Rennes ensures that Eintracht Frankfurt will have to pay the agreed fee to acquire Theate permanently, showing the club’s commitment to the player early in his loan deal.
